From here you can continue to Bullfrog Logging. If you switch left you will go to Pond or Splinters Mill.
This trackage is almost a "Y" because you can turn a loco or train.
Bullfrog Logging
New table creation.
Acquired logging area
New table painted and ready for trackage
This area is the hottest area in our backyard. Shading this area is going to be a challenge. I have tried a couple 10' umbrellas. They do require to be managed and closed daily, mostly because of the wind. The fruit tree was removed. A mountain is to be built with trees and tracks. A tunnel is needed to access the shed where the rolling stock for the railroad is stored.
Shade For Bullfrog
We can not work or run trains in this area because of the Sun for most of the year. I decided to shade the whole area. I used Shade cloth from HD. This stuff has lasted for a couple years so far for the other area of the RR. So hopefully this will last as well.
Posts in Buckets
I used a 1/2 bag of post cement to support the posts
6 posts
The new mountain will be 5' x 10' . That gives us walking room around the Area.
Support for the Shade
I connected the posts with a support framework for the new shade roof.
Shed
Shed
Rolling stock winter storage
Rolling stock winter storage
The Shed is doing double duty for us RR Stuff and the yard tools are stored here. Shelving was added for the rolling stock winter storage. JMRI will assign each locations and as needed and then the cars can then be placed on the outbound track when called for. At the end of an operating session or the end of the season the cars can be returned to their locations. This will also create more operating opportunities for JMRI.
Pond
Pond west end
The log cars are pulled into this area on the right track. The loco is switched to the rear of the train and then the logs are delivered to the pond to be processed by Splinters Mill.
Pond east end
There are two tracks available for the log drop. The empty cars can be placed on the middle track for their return to Bullfrog Logging.
Splinters Mill
This will be a Shingle Mill, with two sidings available for the outbound products. The stacked wood on the right side of this image is a placeholder for the future Mill buildings. The Mill is being redrawn with CorelDraw. It will then go to the Laser Engraver to be cut out and assembled hopefully by summer 2021.
Drawbridge
The Bridge
This is a lift hinged bridge that creates the "Gap" and access to the area. We have a picnic table inside this area with an umbrella to protect us from falling things, like leaves, and did I mention the birds?
This is the entrance to the Moccasin Gap yards.
